My name is Yasmín Parra Codina. I was born and raised in San Antonio and I am running to be your SAISD District 7 School Board Trustee. I am committed to listening to all constituents, and everyone that is directly impacted by policies, especially students, parents, teachers, and school workers. I want to help students and this school board seat will help do that.
I am a proud SAISD alum, and after graduating from Brackenridge High School, I received my double major undergraduate degrees in Mexican American Studies and Anthropology, and Master’s in Bicultural-Bilingual Studies at The University of Texas at San Antonio. I have over 15 years of experience working with students and multicultural families, collaborating with local government, and community organizations to advocate for education.
I am a proud daughter and granddaughter of migrant farm workers and generations of educators, with roots from Michigan and the Texas Rio Grande Valley. It is my family’s humble beginnings and dedication to investing their lives’ work through education, that moves me to continue to serve my community.
I envision an education system where we cultivate environments where student voices are centered, teachers and school workers are heard, and parents are prioritized. We must create space to foster new leadership with community input, because students and families want to be involved in their future.
With your support, I aim to work hard for SAISD and for the schools our students deserve.
I am Yasmín Parra Codina, your District 7 school board candidate, and I am here to listen to you.
I am committed to fighting for the schools our students deserve:
- Prioritize academic excellence with cultural curriculum over standardized testing.
- Expand student, parent, community involvement, with voter input for quality decision making.
- Advocate for student health, wellness, and safety to foster student success.
